Come to San Francisco

That's what I was told: Come to San Francisco; we'll have fun. The tickets were booked, the bags packed, the weekend came and I found myself in SanFran with Aaron and the family in a happy and eager mood. - Eager to relax and have fun with some of the people I love best!

We had a lot of fun doing the touristy things we were expected to see - we visited Fisherman's Warf, China Town, the Golden Gate Bridge, Santa Cruz, and saw fireworks from the top of a mountain looking over the city. The fireworks and my excitement hid the homelessness of the city like a borrowed dress and pearls, and we celebrated our independance.

Throughout all the good times, my favorite parts were those that were spontaneous, or at least unexpected, and somewhat irrelevant to our location. For example, half-way through our trip, the girls ditched the guys and set out to do a little shopping. Due to an unfortunate series of events, we lost our car and wondered around the city for hours looking for it. How three people misplace a car is still yet to be determined, but the long search is now one of my favorite memories. We got so frustrated that all we could do was a kick a sign and laugh until we found the car and Momdrea fell between the seats!

On Ben's birthday, we randomly found a party store and bought a whole heap of piratey supplies - including a dagger, a woman, and a pirate chest pinata! After having our fun, we completed the night by playing a game - an intense game - of Tossup and throwing our candy out the window to the happy homeless beneath. They scrambled around for the candy like kids at a parade although most were around 50. One man lifted his arms to the sky and yelled up, "TODAY...IS A DAY...TO REJOICE!!" I will never forget what candy means to the world.
